Discover Narooma

In and around Narooma there are great ocean beaches and estuaries which are suitable for all kinds of water sports, including fishing, snorkeling, SUP, water skiing and diving.  

Attractions in the area include a spectacular golf course perched on the clifftops, world class diving, whale watching and surfing and the trip to Montague Island Nature Reserve has been described as the best maritime adventure in New South Wales. 

Narooma has a rich aboriginal history with many local landmarks bearing their traditional names. Majestic Mount Dromedary is now know by it's traditional name of Mount Gulaga and is of great spiritual significance to the Yuin people. Walking trails will take you to the summit from the village of Tilba - the views of the coast on a clear day are spectacular !!

Narooma Cinemas, with its art deco influence and ambience, is something appreciated by locals and tourists alike. Enjoy the real movie experience at Narooma Cinemas (Kinema).

Narooma is home to the the amazing Narooma Oyster Festival at the start of May. If oysters are your thing then this is certainly an event not to be missed!

Narooma also provides a feast of fabulous music with our Busking Festival, last saturday of May. Performers from all over, with all different styles.


The Tilba Region

The Tilba region is one of the most popular drawcards of the Eurobodalla Nature Coast. Central Tilba is a magnet for visitors with its working village atmosphere and variety of excellent produce and wares. Tilbas rolling farm hills are nestled under Mt Gulaga which good news for some of our tourist adventurers, can be hiked. The tv series 'River Cottage Australia' was fimed in Tilba and fans of the show will recognise many locations and people around the area.

Tilba is also home to Tilba Valleys Winery & Alehouse where they create their own wines and ales. This is also a great place for eating with occasional events. Its rustic atmosphere is a great place to host events and weddings aswell.

Sample Tilbas finest ranges of cheeses at The ABC Cheese Factory and watch a display of factory workers as they make some of the most tastiest cheeses on the southcoast.

Nestled in Tilba Tilba (short drive down the road from Central Tilba) is Foxglove Spires Gardens. On this 3 1/2 acres of property thier is an open garden which has been featured on many TV shows such as Burkes Backyard and Better Homes and Gardens. For a small fee you can walk around the property sighting beautiful blooms of flowers, water features and a duck pond.

Some of Tilbas other stores include a leatherworks, cobbler, bakery, woodturner, toy store, lolly shop, galleries, heaps of arts and crafts, bath patisserie, candle maker a great pub as well as lovely cafes.

During Easter Satrurday Tilba hosts The Tilba Easter Festival. The whole main street comes alive with street parades, performers, egg throwing races and even boot throwing. The spectacle is astonishing!


Wildlife Experiences

Our wildlife in Narooma is absolutely magical. From whale watching to swimming with the seals Narooma has you covered.

Whale watching is the highlight of any holiday! These magificent creatures are usually migrating in pods during the months of September through to November.  People come from all over the world coming to see these magnificent creatures and many even comment that Narooma has the best whale watching experience they have seen anywhere.

Best places to whale watch around Narooma:

  • From the windows of the Narooma Golf Club as you have lunch
  • Off the headlands of Kianga through to Dalmeny
  • Australia rock lookout
  • Off our beaches 
  • During a charter out to Montague Island

Our seal colony located on Montague Island tend to be found around the Narooma Region. These furry curious creatures have been found to lounge around the Bar Beach break wall rocks, swimming up and down the Wagonga Inlet and even snacking on leftover fish from the fisherman at Narooma wharf. If you want a more up close and personal experience, Narooma has snorkelling and diving experiences with these cute furry creatures. Just ask our great staff at the reception about charters and experiences. 

Montague Island Nature Reserve is home to more than 90 species of birds with more than 8,000 little penguins live on the island at any one time. Montague Island Nature Reserve abounds with remarkable wildlife and is proud of its biodiversity. The reserve has programs in place to protect and enhance the habitats of all nesting seabird species.

Narooma Golf Course

For golfers, no visit to the South Coast of NSW is complete without playing a round at Narooma's famous golf course. With its unique and stunning coastal setting, the course is both a challenge for serious golfers and a pleasure to play for the not so serious.
The modern clubhouse has something for everyone with full clubhouse facilities, relaxing lounges with magnificent views, and friendly, professional staff.
The brasserie, Paul's on the Course, love to use as many fresh, local ingredients as they can source, with a menu reflecting the abundance of delicious produce the coast has to offer. The fresh local seafood, for which Narooma is famous, features prominently in the menu. Fresh local oysters are available lunch and dinner.

Lively Market Places

For the highly enthused wonderers looking for a bit of local produce and plants, nicknacks and refreshments, Eurobodalla have plenty of markets to head out to. 

Narooma Rotary Markets, 4th sunday of every month, Nata Oval (behind the visitors centre) 8.30am - 1pm. Just about anything you can think of you can get at the Narooma Rotary Markets. There is a wide variety of stalls which sell products including plants, produce, clothing, jewellery, crafts, timber products, handbags, preserves, spices, paintings, tools, antiques, collectables, bric-a-brac and more. Food stalls include pizzas, coffee & pastries, barbecue, smoothies & juices.

Dalmeny Meet the Makers Markets, 2nd Sunday of Month, Dalmeny Community Hall (on Mort Ave) 8.30am - 1pm. Narooma District Lions Club host the Dalmey Meet the Makers Markets where you will find some amazing Homegrown and Handmade goodies and get to have a chat with the very clever and passionate Makers! 

Central Tilba Growers Market, Central Tilba Big Hall (Bate St) Saturdays, 8am to 12pm. Central Tilba Growers Markets is located in Central Tilba Big Hall on the main street of Central Tilba. A variety of stalls that sell a range of products including fresh fruit and vegetables, free range eggs, local honey, jams and preserves, delicious baked treats, plus much more.

SAGE Farmers Markets, Moruya Riverside Park, Tuesday, after 3pm. The SAGE Farmers Market was born out of a community demand for quality, local food. They are proud to be able to provide a marketplace for consumers to access locally grown or harvested food directly from the producers, under safe and controlled conditions.
The market has quickly established an excellent reputation in the surrounding districts as an authentic farmers market and they have made it their highest priority to maintain that authenticity, so that consumers can be sure that what they purchase from any SFM stall holder adheres to the SFM philosophy and ethos (see the web site for more information).
The secondary purpose is to educate consumers about the multiple benefits of eating local produce and products and to raise awareness of the seasonality of local food.

Moruya Country Markets, Moruya Riverside Park, Saturday 7.30am-1pm, Over 120 stalls to pick from. Live music, arts, crafts, food and produce to choose from.

Bermagui Seaside Fair Markets, Dickinson Oval (Lamont St) Held in March every year. Since 1998 Bearmagui Seaside Fair has been held with a great range of multiple events and activities for everyone to enjoy. Bermagui Seaside Fair is organised by a non-for-profit commitee of volunteers and have a great community involvement behind them. The fair has an impact throuout the region as it gives back to the youth and community groups through out the year. Sculpture Bermagui usually go hand in hand with the Bermagui Seaside Fair. The 10 day outdoor and indoor exhibition is held on the head land of Horseshoe Bay behind Dickinson Oval and the community centre (Bunga St).
